Join Rep. Jason Probst on Thursday!
I don't obsess about the size of my campaign rallies - but I do hope you'll join us
After months of talking, meeting, planning, and working, it’s about time to tap this idea that we’ve been brewing. Every one of us involved in setting this up is really excited that we’re finally here - and that we’ll get to see all of you at this fun event.
What is it?
Probst for Kansas campaign beer launch party. It will run from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at Sandhills Brewing at 111 W. Second.
Here’s some of the goings on…
➡️We’ll have our special campaign beer available in 6-pack cans for sale through the brewery for $18, with a portion of each sale supporting the Probst for Kansas Campaign. If you want to sample it before purchasing, ask for the Oktoberfest on the beer menu at Sandhills - that’s the beer I helped brew for this event!
(There will be Designated Drivers set up for this event if you need a ride).
➡️We’ll also have some Oktoberfest-themed food available through the brewery, including Curry Brats! I’m really looking forward to this.
(Side note - if this event goes well, all of us involved in putting it together have decided we’ll try to turn this into Hutch’s version of a yearly Oktoberfest celebration. No, no matter how much you all ask, I will NOT be wearing lederhosen).
➡️There will be live music, courtesy of my kid Mitchell Probst, and his bandmates Troy Tolbert, Ruben Garza, and Nate Stafford. I listened to them practice the other night, and these are some really talented musicians.
Wait, there’s more….
➡️We’ll have people set up to record videos from supporters talking about why I’m the best choice for Hutchinson’s 102nd House District. This is a crucial part of the campaign. To me, there’s nothing more powerful than YOU speaking directly to other voters. Believe me, people will be sick of seeing my mug by the time this is over, but it’s really important for you to tell others in the district why you believe in our campaign. We’ll only record a minute or two, so it’s pretty quick and painless. If you speak your truth and your heart, trust me, you’ll be great. If you want to see what others have done in the past, go here.
Remember - I have a big target on my back this year, so I really need your help this year. If I’ve been helpful or kind to you, helped you solve a problem or navigate bureaucracy, laughed at your jokes, or made you laugh, I’m hopeful you’ll consider coming down to shoot a video. It’s one of the biggest ways you can help my campaign - and a powerful way to show outsiders that this community sticks together.
➡️If you want a Yard Sign, come down and get it. I’ve been holding a lot of you off, but now’s your chance! We’ll have people set up to get your sign - and if we run out tonight, we’ll be sure to get you on a list for later!
Aside from the Probst for Kansas signs, we’ll have these nifty, non-partisan, non-political signs available. This is a excellent way to show your support for local candidates who are serious about living, investing, supporting, and promoting our community.
➡️We’ll also be selling some really cool merch and taking donations.
Campaigns are expensive, especially when you’re running against the whole of Republican leadership and uber-wealthy groups like the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, who get a little freaked out that someone (me) reminds everyone that they’re the real welfare queens. So anything you can do to help support our ability to continue representing you is greatly appreciated. But remember - you don’t have to drop a dime on my campaign to feel welcome at this event.
Wait, there’s still more….
➡️We’ll have a voter registration table - if you know anyone who isn’t registered, bring them too and we’ll help them get signed up to vote. It is easy, quick, and painless - I promise.
➡️That Podcast in Hutch will be on site, too. My producer Christopher Acker will be doing a takeover of the show - so how it all goes is up to him. But I know that we’ll be asking you to share your stories about why you love Hutchinson and the people you love in our community.
Aside from my yard signs, we’ll have some other signs for other candidates set up right next door - and people who will help you get those in your hand as well.
OK, I think that’s almost everything
I’ve probably forgotten something, but that’s not completely unsurprising.
I’m so looking forward to this, and I really do hope you’ll all come down to show your support and have fun. This event is open to everyone in our community - so if you were asking yourself whether this is for you, the answer is yes, you belong here.
I hope in all of that you’ll find something that seems fun or interesting enough to bring you out for this event. But mostly, though, just come and enjoy some time with friends and enjoying our community. In my view, there really aren’t too many things in the world that are more rewarding.
I hope to see you there.
