Friday night at Sandhills Brewing
Come down to record a campaign video, stay to help a local business
I wanted to reach out with a couple of quick updates and reminders.
We’re doing a video recording event from 5-7 p.m. at Sandhills Brewing on Friday night. It will a fun and exciting night, with food, beer, and community. I’m asking you to say a few words - just a minute or two - about why you support my campaign and why others should as well. Later in the evening Sandhills will have music on the patio - and we’ll stick around until at least 8 p.m.
When we set this up, it was solely to capture a few clips of campaign supporters that we could use in the Probst for Kansas campaign. But now it’s going to be that and more. If you haven’t heard, Sandhills Brewing has been in danger of losing its liquor license - due to Reno County liquor laws that haven’t been revisited since the 1986 election that decided the matter.
The brewery needs to significantly increase its food receipts to meet a 30 percent-of-sales law for drinking establishments. They have until Sept. 30 to reach their goal - and we’re going to use this event to do all we can to help them out.
Also look out for the next edition of That Podcast in Hutch! For this episode, guest host Jackson Swearer sits down with Pippen from Sandhills and me to talk about the challenges around local liquor laws, and how they’ve affected Sandhills in the past few weeks. We also talk about the amazing response from the Hutchinson community - which poured into Sandhills to purchase ALL THE FOOD!
Keep an eye out for another email in the morning with links to the podcast. Or you can go to your favorite podcast player and subscribe to That Podcast in Hutch.
I’ll also provide a lot more information in tomorrow’s email about the liquor laws that have threatened one of our treasured local businesses.
I hope to see you Friday! Even if you don’t want to record (but I hope that you will) come say hi, and buy a little food at Sandhills to help keep them around.
(Paid for by Probst for Kansas, Erin Swearer, treasurer)
Sorry I didn't realize the event at Sandhills was happening! But so glad I got some great food, Sandhills Brewery jugs of Octoberfest and Kolsch! PLUS picked up my 4th Democratic yard sign for Probst!
