That Podcast in Hutch - Episode 6
Metropolitan Coffee owner Myra Kitson visits with me about the unique challenges of running a small business in Hutchinson.
I’m really excited about this episode. And I mean really excited. In fact I’ve hardly been able to contain myself about this episode, as well as the next several upcoming episodes of That Podcast in Hutch.
And I know - it’s not like I’m going to ever come out and say “this is a terrible episode. You shouldn’t waste your time listening.” But there are some conversations that are incredibly revealing, honest, and enlightening that I can’t wait to share them. This conversation with Myra is one of those.
Myra and her husband Jim own Metropolitan Coffee in Hutchinson. It’s been a staple of the community for a long time - but as I talked to Myra, I realized how much they’ve sacrificed to make Metro a place I’ve been able to enjoy for so many years.
If you listen with an open mind, I am certain that you’ll learn something you didn’t know before - or at the least you’ll have a better understanding of a different perspective. There are a lot of challenges that small business owners face - and I think much of the time their struggles get lost in the broader conversation about what it means to be “pro-business.” And in the past 18-or-so months, those struggles have been increased and intensified.
I hope you’ll take the time to listen to Myra share her story - and then take a moment to thank them with your words and your support. Their main location is at 17th and Lorraine, and Metro To Go is just east of Washington on 2nd Avenue.
