TPIH: Sobriety with Michael and Cammie Rumback
Part 2 in series on alcoholism, addiction, and recovery
NOTE: Don’t forget - That Podcast in Hutch will be downtown at Third Thursday doing live recordings on Main Street near DCI park. Since the theme for Third Thursday is "Dog Days of Summer," I thought we'd ask people to share something about their pet, something about their summer, or share a favorite memory about the start of the school year. Really, whatever you want to share if fine by me. Stop by and let us record you for a few minutes - and we’ll share your story on That Podcast in Hutch!
This is the second part of a three part series on addiction, specifically alcoholism. In this segment, I visit with Michael and Cammie Rumback.
I was so happy that this couple was willing to share their experience with me, and with you. It’s not easy to be so open and authentic about the struggles of addiction and the emotional toll it takes on a family. I’m grateful for Michael and Cammie’s willingness to sit down and record with me.
If you haven’t gone back to listen to the first episode with Steve Becker, it’s worth going back to the start and listening to that episode.
In this episode, Michael speaks very openly and candidly about his alcoholism and how it affected his relationship with his family. And Cammie shares her experiences from the other side of the equation - as a wife trying to keep her family whole and healthy in spite of an overwhelming addiction.
I think you’ll find this series thought provoking and insightful - and perhaps develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the struggle of addiction and the way it affects everyone it touches.

This is a fabulous series, Jason; I thought so after listening to the first episode, even though Steve's experiences were nothing like my own. I hope there will be some way of putting this whole thing together once it's completed--there will be many who will benefit from it, I'm sure.
